I've just updated the N96 Firmware to v12 and noticed on one of the forums state that the new firmware makes the N96 compatible with Nokia Email. So I headed over to http://email.nokia.com but didn'tt noticed N96 as a compatible device, so just installed the N78 version and its running great in the N96.

Disappointed with the Nokia viNe Widget

I've just added the Nokia viNe widget from the http://www.nseries.com/vine site to this website (look to the right) and I'm very disappointed to see its not like the SportsTracker one (look below the Nokia viNe widget) in that it will not show just my viNes. I don't care about anyone elses vines, I want a widget to show off mine.

Opened up Nokia viNe today and it informed me there was a new v1.02 available for download. I've downloaded and don't see any newer features added, so I can just think its bug fixes.

Nokia viNe is still in closed beta and not heard anything on when its going to be released yet?

Skyfire now out of closed beta

Skyfire the web browser for your mobile phone is now out of beta and available for anyone to download and use.

I've tried on the N95 8GB and N96 and its working great over 3G and Wifi. Via 3G on the 3K network I'm even able to watch hulu.com videos :)

I've tried to get Skyfire working on the E71' but its just crashing when its trying to connect to the network, so not sure if its all E71's or just mine with the new firmware in it.

N96 Firmware Update is a Dream

I updated the N96 firmware to the latest v11 the other night and was all set to have to reinstall all my applications like I have to with the E71 and N95 8GB, but I hit a big snag. You don't have to reinstall all your apps again, the firmware update doesn't effect anything you have on the phone including apps, contacts, calendar, settings' etc...

Now this is a Joy from Nokia and I so want it on all my phones, after spending 4hrs installing everything back onto my E71 last night after updating its firmware.

The video on the Nokia viNe site to promote the application is hilarious and I'm here to say the new application version 1.0 totally ROCKS.

I've posted about it over on nokiAAddict.com and I've got a few screenshots taken from the E71, yes Nokia viNe works great on the N96, N95 8Gb and even the E71 :)

Facebook in Download!

I got a bit excited when I noticed Facebook in the Download! application on my N96, I quickly installed thinking it would be a new app with maybe chat features, but that excitement soon faded when I opened the app to realise its just a widget to open the mobile site. Bummer!

Nokia N-GAGE have just released a fighting game called One, so I've been playing with it on the N96 and I must say this game kicks ass :)

Loaded some music onto the N96

This morning I loaded 15 album's onto the N96, this doesn't make much of a dent in the whooping 16GB Mass Memory the N96 has, so will need to fully load it tonight.

Just listening to The new Snow Patrol album at the moment.

M.I.A. Barcode Reader

One app I've got used to seeing in all new Nokia phones is the Barcode Reader, so its a bit strange it appears to be missing from the N96 or am I missing something again?

Just downloaded Top Gear episode onto the N96 via the bbc iplayer download service via my hotels wep wifi connection. Downloaded in a few minutes and i've watched half of it and i'll save the other half for tomorrow lunchtime. Now what else to download?

No New Nokia Email on the N96

I'm sure I saw support for the N96 on the Nokia Email site? So, I'm a little disappointed about that, so the E71 is remaining active for my email purposes with LCG Profimail (I have a license for it on the E71). I've installed the new Gmail v2.0 on the N96 and that works okay for gmail and google apps mail, so will just need to use that for leisure purposes only.

First impressions of NokiaVine on the N96

Okay, my first impression of NokiaVine on the N96 is 'Can I just uninstall it?'. If I were to install any application as slow as this on a gerrymoth phone, it would be removed soon after.

I'll need to have a further play with it this week, but from the offset its not looking good.

Kickstand?

Now I know the N96 has a pullout kickstand to allow you to have it sitting up by itself, but why did I think it was the full length of the phone? Spent an hour on Friday trying to prise it open only to be sent this picture by Ben Smith of MIR, whoops!

Hell I nearly had the front face off the phone trying to get it and its a little tiny thing round the camera lens? :D

N96 + OVI Sync = PASS

Thought I'd use OVI Sync to get all my contacts and calendar entries over to the N96 and it seems to have worked great. All I did was add the device on the OVI website, the settings were texted to me and then I just synchronized over the air.

Nokia Wifi problems

What is wrong with Wifi on the latest Nokia phones? My E71 and now the new N96 will connect 1st time to my Netgear router with WPA2 set, but then does nothing else. The N95 8GB connects fine everytime and I can use all the time, so what's going on?

Where is the BBC iPlayer?

First thing I wanted to do when I got the N96 was try out the BBC iPlayer, but I couldn't find it on the phone anywhere, so ended up just installing directly from the web HERE, but I eventually found a link to install it in the Downloads! application.

N96 Trial Challenge

Hi,

My name is gerrymoth and I usually blog over on http://nokiAAddict.com but for the next few weeks I'll be keeping a journal of my goings on with the N96 Trial Challenge.

What is the 'N96 Trial Challenge' I hear you cry, well those nice people at WOMWorld/Nokia are going to be giving me (and a few other bloggers) a nice new Nokia N96 to play with for 4 weeks and set us weekly challenges to show off the capabilities of the N96.

Also as part of the trial they are give me access to the new Nokia Vine application which is a replacement for the Sports Tracker application. I'm looking forward to see what this application is capable of.

So bookmark this site and check back regularily for all the N96 fun.
